Carraro India has set a revenue target of Rs 4,000 crore by FY29-30, up from an estimated Rs 2,500-2,600 crore this fiscal year, according to Autocar Professional’s report of 3 October 2026. The axle and transmission maker plans to invest Rs 300 crore in capital expenditure over three years to get there.
Managing Director Balaji Gopalan outlined the plan, which rests on higher exports, new product segments and a growing engineering services business. The company supplies axles and transmissions for construction equipment and agricultural vehicles from its Pune facilities.
Why Is Carraro India Investing Rs 300 Crore?
Capacity is tight. Carraro India’s Pune plants run at 88-92 per cent utilisation, and Gopalan said that “even after I expand, my capacity should come back to 80, 85 percent”. The Rs 300 crore spend over three years is meant to add that headroom. The company operates over 200 horizontal machining centres at Pune.
How Is Carraro Growing While the Market Declines?
Gopalan said “we grew by 9% FY26, while the construction equipment market declined by 2%”. The company holds a reported 56-60 per cent share of the non-captive domestic market for four-wheel-drive axles. Its transmissions handle up to 160-170 horsepower. Focus products include backhoe loader transmissions and axles, along with components for concrete mixers, excavators, cranes and telehandlers.
What Role Will Exports and Engineering Services Play?
Carraro India expects exports to make up 33-36 per cent of revenue by FY29-30. Engineering services should bring in roughly Rs 20-24 crore this year. Gopalan described the strategy this way: “By having competence and products and processes, we are making our OEMs dependent on us.”
Market Reaction and Industry Response
No stock movement, analyst note or trade body comment on the target was found in the sources reviewed. Agricultural demand is cited as one driver, linked to TREM V emission norms for tractors.
What Happens Next?
Watch for details on where the Rs 300 crore will be deployed, export order wins, and quarterly results that show whether revenue is tracking toward the FY30 goal. The company has not published a year-by-year path in the coverage reviewed.
