UPM Adhesive Materials has opened a new label material distribution terminal in Delhi-NCR, cutting expected delivery lead times for northern and eastern Indian converters from 8-9 days to 1-2 days. The UPM label terminal in Delhi-NCR has an initial annual delivery capacity of 30-35 million square metres, according to a report published by Packaging South Asia on 16 October 2026.

The terminal covers about one acre and became operational in the third quarter of 2026. UPM says it will scale capacity to match market demand.

Why Does a Delhi-NCR Terminal Matter for Label Converters?

Before the terminal opened, narrow-web converters in northern and eastern India relied on supply routed through western ports or UPM’s Mumbai terminal.

Suresh Valecha, senior country manager for South of Asia at UPM Adhesive Materials, said UPM has had a relatively limited presence in North India and that the company is pleased to have finally realised this vision.

Which Segments Is UPM Targeting?

UPM is focusing on the premium wine and spirits segment, particularly in the NCR and Punjab. The company also says the terminal will use lower-emission logistics.

Market Reaction and Industry Response

The source report did not include comment from converters, brand owners or trade associations, and no financial details such as investment value were disclosed.

What Happens Next?

UPM has not announced a date for expanding the terminal beyond its initial 30-35 million square metre capacity. The company’s stated approach is to scale it as demand grows, so converter uptake in NCR and Punjab over the coming quarters is the main signal to watch.
