The natural rubber price has crossed ₹300 per kilogram in India for the first time. The Rubber Board’s price for RSS 4 grade reached an all-time high of ₹300 in the Kottayam and Kochi markets on Monday, 2 November 2026.

Open-market transactions had already taken place at ₹300 per kg the previous week, according to Onmanorama’s report from Kottayam on 3 November. The Rubber Board’s official price reached that level only on Monday.

Why Has the Natural Rubber Price Gone Above ₹300 per kg?

The report cites a domestic shortage of rubber amid strong demand. It adds that farmers have shifted toward selling latex instead of processing it into sheets, which has also pushed up sheet rubber prices.

The international price of RSS 4 stands at ₹266.69 per kg, about ₹33.31 (roughly 12.5%) below the domestic rate, according to the same report. In other words, Indian buyers are currently paying more than the global benchmark for the same grade.

What Does a ₹300/kg Rubber Price Mean for Rubber Goods Makers?

Natural rubber is a core raw material for tyres and a wide range of rubber products, so a record price raises input costs for manufacturers. The All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA) had earlier warned about cost pressure on small manufacturers. In a report dated 14 May 2026, it said natural rubber prices had already risen 40% and that production costs had climbed about 15% in three months. It also asked the government for a six-month duty-free import allowance for natural rubber.

The 3 November report does not say whether any new request has been made to the government after the latest price milestone.

Market Reaction and Industry Response

No fresh comment from tyre makers, AIRIA or the Rubber Board on the ₹300 mark was found in the sources reviewed for this article. The only official figure available is the Rubber Board’s price of ₹300 for RSS 4 on 2 November.

What Happens Next?

The size of the gap between domestic and international prices is the number to watch. Whether supply improves, or whether the government changes import rules, will decide how long domestic prices stay above the global rate. The source report does not forecast either.
